Overture/Undergrowth

transcription

The poet is
innocent
and
a sentimental American
the wood
is lost and can never return.

the grass was green,
The night starry,
I was the prince
And lordly

and carefree,
let me play
the mercy of
huntsman and herdsman,
the foxes on the hills barked clear and cold,

the sun was running,
the simple stars
rode away
the moon
Flying
into the dark.

come back,
Adam and maiden,

the clouds
born over and over,
nothing I cared,
the children
out of

time
wake to the forever fled land.
I was young
and dying
like the sea.
